There's some literal shanty inspiration!

"i eat men like air."

they sang all sorts of songs-- the men, the sailors. of fortune and gold, or torture and woes, their voices grizzled upon the evening's sea; bobbing upon that black tide. this vessel would not be the first and it would not be the last, a ship bravely daring to cut across the waters of Vash'jir; a tradesman's galleon making its way from Stormwind City to Valgarde Harbor. some said they are cursed, these fabled currents.

it doesn't take long for them to hear it-- that crooning sound, a mellifluous melody which belied the maliciousness of its intent. and it worked now as it had before and would again, pouring into the ears of all that heard; drowning out their own combined harmony until silence swept the deck and only that strange lullaby, luring in its coo, remained.

there was success in this distraction, curious crewman re-routing their course as if possessed, drawn by a preternatural aria which preoccupied all sense and reason until that inevitable collision. crash! against unseen rocks, the bow splintered, inky waters filling the belly of the ship. ripe for the picking.
they sang all sorts of songs-- the women, the sirens; the sailors sing no more.

Quote from Colme Blackveil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_WTHkBuqbg

“What are you doing?” He says to her from the captain’s bed on which he lounges— a corded silhouette, half obscured beneath the wrapping of sheets, battle-weathered frame propping upon one elbow and spying the elven woman whilst she effortlessly sashays about his quarters. All the while, the ship rocks to and fro.

“You’ll see,” teases she in reply, lissome frame turned away from the sailor to instead face the tall stretch of a standing mirror, admiring herself wordlessly; wearing little more than a smirk and her ritual chains as she reapplies that familiar dark stain to her lips from an unfamiliar vial.

“My men think you’re vicious, that you’re going to bring a curse upon our journey,” the Captain says to her back, his words causing the siren to cant upon a heel. Slowly, she begins to consume what space yet parted them, a slithering sway in brass-knuckle hips.

“Is that what you think?” She croons rhetorically, climbing onto the sinking feathers of his mattress with hands and knees, silencing his reply beneath the weight of a punctuating, open-mouthed kiss.

It’s his nervous system that shuts down first, followed by each organ giving up, one by one by one, until only a body is left and the mind trapped within. In the morning, his men can find no trace of their commander, nor the strange woman who had accompanied him aboard.
